EuroFIA adopts emergency motion in support of FNV-KIEM and the Dutch cultural sector, Berlin 25th June

At its meeting in Berlin on the 25th of June, the EuroFIA group adopted an emergency motion of support for its Dutch member and the cultural sector in the Netherlands, in light of the short-sighted cuts that threaten to fundamentally damage and weaken the Dutch cultural sector.

EuroFIA members noted with particular concern the threatened loss of the WWIK, the Theatre institute, the production houses, dance groups and other cuts that will very negatively impact on the working lives of performers in the Netherlands. On the 26 - 27 of June, there will be a range of protest actions underway in the Netherlands, including a March for Civilisation. EuroFIA warmly supports our colleagues in their efforts and wishes them every success.

EuroFIA invites its members to support the many initiatives underway to try and counter these proposed cuts. Below are two documents for download - a letter of explanation from our Dutch colleagues and a letter of protest, which you can sign and send. You can also send a short explanation to all your members and ask them to sign the online petition against the cuts: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/performingarts/

You can further visit the site www.artislifemovie.com to view a protest film against the cuts. You can link to the short film (2 min.) about the value of art (www.artislifemovie.com) with a short explanation of the Dutch cultural meltdown on your site.

And all the other creative actions you can think of.... !
